Which Internet Marketing Home Study Course Is Right For You?

If you want to get involved in internet marketing, whether it be with affiliate marketing strategies, or creating your own product, an internet marketing home study course can be an extremely smart investment … but ONLY if you get a course which is right for you.

Does Your Marketing Course
Cover Everything You
Need To Know?

You should be careful because many courses online are short eBooks or video tutorials that cover only vague aspects of marketing.

A good internet marketing course should contain much more in-depth material with actual step by step instructions for you to put into action.

One of the best home study courses I’ve purchased was Mike Filsaime’s Butterfly Marketing course.

I made my very first sale from my own website after reading one of Mike’s earlier products so even though it was an expensive home study course, I knew that the content he produced was valuable and reliable.

Typically, such courses are more expensive than the $47-$97 ebooks that you’ll find on sites like Clickbank, but if you go through and apply the materials, the income potential can be much greater.

After using the techniques in the Butterfly Marketing course, I had my first $1,000 day and a $5,000 week.

BUT … if you are just starting out, you may not want to spend $1,500+ on a course.

Are You Ready Yet
For An In Depth
Home Study Course?

For most beginners a full blown internet marketing home study course may not be the right option for you. When I purchased my first high-ticket course I already had a good foundation in internet marketing and I knew I could use the course to help grow my business.

So if you don’t have an existing business yet, I wouldn’t recommend you spend $1,000 or more on a course as instead of making you money, it may actually cause you to become overwhelmed with the large amount of information on a topic that you’re not very familiar with.

Are You Just Starting
Out Online?

Then Make Sure You… Get the basics down first!

It is possible to start your own business online with minimal cost – just a domain and hosting – so there is no need to spend thousands of dollars when you are starting, especially with the wealth of free information that’s readily available online.

To start out I would suggest you get:

1) A domain name – I started out with a generic domain name that I could use to promote lots of affiliate products.

2) A hosting account – This is a MUST in my opinion, even if you only promote affiliate products.  (You should have no excuse for not getting hosting if you’re serious about having success online)

3) Something to sell – this can be an affiliate product, a resale rights product, or even your own product.

Then it’s just a case of getting some quick website traffic to either your sales page or squeeze page so you can start making sales and building a list.

Marketing Course Now

I also created a free course that is designed to help you get started marketing online.   My goal was to create something that anyone could understand, even complete beginners, and is based on my own personal experience of building a business online.

It doesn’t contain hundreds of pages of information like a large internet marketing home study course, but it has all the essentials you need to get started seeing results.

  1. Can you provide more information on this?

  2. MikeRogers says:

As usual, you have hit the nail squarely on the head.

It is entirely too easy to get caught up in the next “Big Launch” while completely ignoring the basics of solid internet marketing tactics.

Morison, what Richard is gently trying to tell you is that you should keep your wallet in your pocket (as far as marketing gimmicks and gadgets go) until you build the core basics that every marketer needs to be successful.

After reading several of Richard’s products, I can think of very few others that pack as much information and passionate sincerity in their work as he does.

  3. Richard, this is good but I tried to go to the access here and when I entered my email address, got the msg it was alraedy in your data base, so was not able to download anything??
    Thanks anyway,

  4. Hi Richard,
As always, l agree 100% with your frank advise.Yes, as a newbie, we don’t need a program costing $1,000.-
no matter what the guru claims.
l have been receiving your advise
for about 3 years and l believe you are the most trustworthy guru.

    Thank you, John

  5. Hi Margie,

If you get the message saying you’re already in the database, it means you already signed up to the site :-)

You can try logging in (the link is at the bottom of the SucceedIn30Days.com homepage) or alternately sign up with a new email address.

    Hope this helps,

    Richard

  6. Hi Richard,
It is allways good to hear from you. Your posts are informative and ontime.I always
find myself from suffering from info overload.
I think I alreading have the training course I need – “How To Succeed in 30 Days”. My problem is it is so hard to stay focused. I have to get my feet back on the ground. It is very easy to know what to do but very hard to follow thru.Anyways, I want to thank you for all your help.

  7. Richard,
Normally, I would agree with you 100%, but I think you over simplified this just a little. If it were that easy, we’d all be internet millionaires. To get started, I agree. To really make it, it takes way more.

  8. Richard,

This post is “dead on.” The basics of a business is what is needed to start a marketing campaign. Focus and drive are needed to stay the course. Your post is great advice for us all. Thanks for saving us from ourselves.

  9. Ray Robertson says:

    Hello Richard,

I must say that I agree with you regarding all
these high priced product launches. It seems
they all get around these high ticket prices,
by using the hook of alowing a second choice of
payment, by Monthly instalment plan. People fall
into the trap, of thinking they will be able to
make money before they have to pay all the instalments. This is very far from reality, especially for a newbie. For a person to make money, someone has to part with money.
Like all thinks where money is concerned, it is a zero sum game.Unlike what the Guru’s would like you to believe, everybody can not become millionaires, the world would cease to function if that was the case.

  10. Peter Beckenham says:

    Hello Richard,

I am typical of the newbie who wants as much info as possible on as many related subjects as possible before making a start on my new internet business.

As a result I have done exactly what you have so wisely advised not to do..I am still currently enrolled in 3 distinctly different training programs, one of which cost me more than $8000. These are in addition to your excellent Succeed in 30 Days program that was my first…..and in retrospect, should have been my last training program until I at least had established a working website.

I am now faced with the choice of either dumping most of these courses (which are by the way mostly very practical and with excellent support services) or making the decision which ones to continue with in order to recover my investment. Obviously, getting back to the essential basics (as in your program) and simply getting started would achieve this particular objective.

In the fast moving world of internet marketing this is probably the very worst strategy to adopt and of course, the end result is usually “paralysis from analysis”.

The result is after nearly 3 months, I have 6 domain names, 2 hosting companies, 21 affiliate arrangements, stacks of software, files full of PLR articles (both free and paid for), great ideas for niche markets, a fully researched and viable product but not even one operational SEO website.

I have been the typical “cash cow” for all the so-called internet gurus. I have an extensive background in business consultancy, especially with a focus on sales and marketing…..and I have always loved a clever and subtle sales pitch!!!

So I have absolutely no excuses for my resultant loss of focus but although somewhat financially poorer as a result of my stupid “knowledge based” strategy, I am not bitter and in fact have enjoyed the learning curve, both good and bad.

I wanted to add this post as I know there are many others like me who have followed the same route but may not be prepared to say so or even admit to themselves.

I am normally a person who never procrastinates, especially in the business world, so this experience is quite a new phenomena for me.

Now I do have focus on what are my essential priorities and have started on what hopefully will be an enjoyable and profitable new career in a home based business.

Thanks Richard for your advice and support

  11. You made some very good points in this blogpost.
There are heaps of product launches going on these days, and most of them are actually really good products.
But in order to make them work effectively, you need the basic fundamentals of I.M. already mastered.
You also need to have lots of free time that you can commit to immersing yourself in the product’s strategies.
So it really is best to pick only one system at a time and focus on that until completion. Otherwise information overwhelm is inevitable.

  12. Starting a online home business is not easy. The three steps as you outlined are correct but there is a lot of work to be done learning how to implement those three steps. For example buying a domain name is not as straightforward as some people think. It is important to use a registrar where you have access to a back office where you can make changes to email forwarding, web forwarding and are able to change the domain name servers.

It is also advisable to get your hosting from a company other than the domain name registrar.

You then have to learn some basic HTML, CSS, FTP and SSI is also useful.

As for quick website traffic. Getting traffic is the most difficult of all of the tasks involved in running a home online business.

  13. I seem to be at the crossroads of whether I can do this! I seem to grasp the basics but always being interrupted by one more email about the ‘next best thing’ and I simply do not have a plan of action for each day!
Distraction is the mother of all failures!
I now have a hard drive full of products that I think “well someone may buy it!” and little plan of action to use all this PLR… I recently got a couple of sales through Pay Per Click so that was encouraging…but then it was disappointing not to get sales everyday after the initial sales!
But I must say that Twitter is bringing in Traffic, so that seems to be a good form of advertising! (only works immediately you twit a link!)
I was one of the people who wanted your guidance but simply couldn’t afford another hosting package for a ‘proven’ sales site so I am feeling a little lost again!

Well you do seem to get me thinking so that’s a big plus for you! carry on the good work.

  14. Where I am, China, Internet Explorer cannot access the free marketing course. Any way I can get it?

  15. I intended to draft you one bit of remark so as to say thanks a lot once again about the amazing ideas you’ve featured on this site. It’s certainly unbelievably open-handed with people like you giving openly what a number of us would’ve advertised for an ebook in order to make some dough for themselves, even more so seeing that you could have tried it if you ever decided. These solutions in addition served as a great way to understand that other people online have the identical eagerness like my very own to see great deal more in regard to this problem. I believe there are a lot more pleasant moments up front for individuals that look into your blog post.
