I know so many different business models to implement but I never took the initiative right away, because I am not sure which is the best route? With all the so called gurus out there its really hard to decipher the best plan of action to take and at times can be confusing. I have spent the last year testing everything I learned on about Affiliate and Internet marketing. I have purchase many courses, joined several groups including WA, puirchased several PDF’s and read all the PDF’s I could find in WA and the internet related to IM MKTing. I have written many articles for ezine and others which have been read by over 4000 readers with over 400 ctr’s, and created several squidoo lens, several Usfreeads but not one sale. I can not get enough Traffic to generate sales and I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Can you help steer me in the right direction?

After finding a viable niche market, what is the best way to research the potential customers of that niche? How do they want to be approached? What type of sales copy should I use? Many niche markets will probably not appreciate sales copy and squeeze pages that are common to internet marketing…in fact it could turn them completely off. Any ideas would be helpful.

What I find generally lacking in most programs is a comprehensive approach. Reading the comments of others is confirming my observation. Lot of things are assumed to be basic by the gurus and aren’t covered. Perhaps it is too much to cover everything from start to finish. What I find neglected the most is list building. Everybody seems to agree about how important it is but only few teach it.

Wow - a loaded question. I have the same problem that many here have. How does one set up a website or blog - hook up autoresponder - add widgets/gadgets. I believe many can promote much easier than just setting it up. I can’t figure it out after about 3 years now - how to do the tech stuff - and build the squeeze pages and hook up the blog to the site/blog, etc. So many marketers speak of “getting traffic” but I can’t understand how so many are able to seemingly - easily set all of it up in the first place. I wish you’d make start to finish videos on this. I’ve purchased many video series but they assume we know things - and skip much of it.

As you will see from my website, I sell only physical products. I need advice and guidance on how to drive traffic and improve conversion to sales at the website. I recently joined Aweber and will be attaching their sign up forms on my blog and the shop page of the website. I have been online for just over a year now and find it difficult to get a good stream of traffic to my sites. I get small spurts through article marketing and video marketing but then it all but dries up.
I recently built 4 small sites using Tom Hua ebook products on palmistry, telesales training, scrapbooking techniques, and dvt. Despite getting traffic to them from articles, videos, and PPC they have been nothing short of rubbish in terms of conversions.
With Tom Hua products you get the sales page done for you. I have added bonuses and still no joy.
My question is - at what point do you decide whether to bin off a project or not and move onto a new one?

Heres a challenge for you, because of the many strategies out there:
1] If you have websites, a squeeze page and an autoresponder, what would be your ’specific’ ‘daily’ work actions to promote the sites and how many hours a day minimum do you recommend?
2] Please include free ways to answer above question for the small pockets.
3] Also include paid ways [software] for if you have a bit of money to spend, to answer the above question.
Problem is people get snippets of the big picture.
But unless you get the ‘big picture’, people don’t know what they are supposed to do to make it all work, to create a business.
How do you get traffic? What do you do on a daily basis? How many articles a day? Do you have to do YouTube videos? How many videos? How do you create your own video on your site? Do you use one main method to promote or everything? Before getting outsourcing what best can I do until up to that point? etc.
Any ‘guru’ probably has some sort of step by step routine that they have developed that works that they do for say promoting a website/s. But will they reveal it?
Would you, Richard, share a daily step by step way to get the traffic, get the sales, then to build an online stable business?
Or at least the basic step by steps to achieve some sales to get some initial money.
One might have heard of article marketing or YouTube videos etc but people may be stuck of what to do because of information overload, what is the best etc. then they may end up doing nothing because it is overwhelming.

My question is what do you think is the simplest way to make a consistent sum of (say) $500 per month? This could obviously be then duplicated or ramped up to make more. How to start and get even SOME returns may be the key that many need to help confidence and some running expenses.

I have looked hundreds of things including “can’t lose” programs and found nothing that is profitable.
When I do find something that looks good the competition is so strong I can’t do it. Even “small” niches have thousands of competitors.

All of your respondents are asking the same essential questions. The only people who are really making money on the net are not talking, or telling. Gurus have something we don’t, and we’ll never have it unless we fork over 5 or 10 grand to them, like M. Filsame said in an email the other day (some guy paid him 5 grand to learn a single technique, then paid him “twice that amount” to expand to over $75ok). Gurus sell one thing after another, after another, after another…get it? You can make all the videos you want, and we will never be allowed to compete with anyone making substantial money unless we are exceptionally smart, and also pay for the knowledge…and I don’t mean an ebook. The learning curve and the setup complexity are too much for most and is overwhelming to say the least. It HAS to get simple. If a person can just get started easily and make a little, the incentive stays and grows.
Reply from Richard: I think it’s a little mis-guided to say that the “only people who are really making money one the net are not talking, or telling.”
I personally know many individuals who are making better-than-average incomes from working online, and all of them are in some way teaching others how to do the same.
There is a wealth of information online, much of it free. Yes there are people who charge for that information, or to learn from them directly… This is marketing after all, and marketing involves selling.
The biggest problem I see is lack of action on the individual’s part. (Whether from lack of focus, or being overwhelmed - however, this is not to say that the product does not deliver)
I must stress I say this without trying to generalize too much, but there are plenty of people who will buy every product under the sun, yet won’t actually stick with one thing long enough to see it through.
My goal with creating these videos (and for free) is to give people not only valid information, but also actionable information.
I have very little to none start-up cost and very little experence. I NEED YOUR HELP AS OF YESTERDAY.

Like most of the commentors before me, my main problem is getting traffic to my websites.
I read and viewed just about every ebook and video tutorial on traffic generation involving the normal keyword research etc. but still traffic seems to be my biggest stumbling block.
I’ve got 5 websites varing different niches etc. which I have had for 2 years. I have now resorted to giving myself one more year at this internet business, as it is turning out to be a bit of a money waster and I’m now getting a little tired of these “so-called” gurus giving me a truck load of pbroken promises of how I can get so many visitors to my websites.
With the traffic problem leads to not being able to build a list which is even more frustrating so I do suppose the two go hand in hand.
Oh an I refuse to buy traffic or do any funny black hat tactics etc., as I’m one of those rare honest marketers (;-

No, this is not the web site you gave me. That’s the problem. This site shows what field my expertise is in. I have no knowledge on how to even start marketing the site for information you gave me. I don’t know the language associated with the product and have NO LIST for such people.
My problem in trying to market my site was first, List Building. You are the second person I have invested in to learn these first steps to marketing a site and I still find no help in that area. The best help I have gotten so far is from the Coffee-Cup team which told me I had to have a letter to send by email and a secondary follow-up letter. They also told me to sell from my phone to everyone who called me that I could get to listen to me. I have been successful at that. I am still trying to understand the process of building a list for a product and how to address these unknown people without getting dumped into the Spam folder.
Why do you shove me into other areas to buy your stuff, when I have not even been able to do what the specific email told me to do. You keep pushing new junk and I am still trying understand what to do from the instructions the email tells me to do. I have begun to believe your program was, a paid for by me, way for you to market more stuff to me, not a way for me to learn how to do what is necessary to sell a website.
Never, from your first steps did you tell me how to build a list for this foreign material on the site you sold me. I am totally unaware of how to begin a list since I don’t even know what they call that type of information today. From now on, when you sell your “lessons”, what your father had going for him was you to answer all areas he got lost in. He didn’t have to wade through all the links offered only to find they were another sales pitch for something else. That did not help me I got all those links to wade through. I need specifics on how to build a list, not buy one, for start up marketing. How to address the information in a sales letter and any other totally left out parts about the initial marketing that is necessary. Not how to spread to all the out-reach marketing steps that we all know break every code of conduct a respectable sales person for regular sales in real life, not web, do. Where is the start? Before we branch out to some of these multi-level pyramid schemes?
Would you already have a list of real potential buyers aimed at my product if my site was handed to you? Would you know the language? After reading the five page site, you might find yourself addressing handicap people, but there are five segments of population needing my product and I need to understand how to find the best in the five fields that would then be likely to be interested enough to start a decent blog entry when it is again open, or interested enough to reach into this site and spread the word.
I bought the “lessons” believing I could at least make about $9.00 a month, showing me I was doing okay. You expected me to market an unknown subject product with no knowledge what-so-ever of e-Bay or much about the Internet.
No, I am not a dummy! Look at the web site I gave you and you will see that. After a year of building that site and trying to get my blog re-set up after having to change hosting companies, I am still trying to learn how to properly address unknown customers and, how to find correct potential customers for a list, to be able to market my product.
You left me with a totally unknown product. It was like asking me to recruit the proper astronaut to make the trip to Venus! I believe what I thought that site was to do was to give me a page that my information could be put on and I could follow your instructions to market my product and send potential customers to my main site. I now realize this was not so or I could not make the cash on the site, but there are hundreds of products I am efficient in understanding and I was not given a choice. I believe you are getting % pay from each page we sell or click into, and it really doesn’t matter to you one way or the other if we make it or not.
I could never have marketed an unfamiliar product with no means to understand the language to even start a list, let alone without being given one up front. I am very disappointed. I did not care that I could not achieve my first sale in 30 days. I cared that I learned how to initially build a list and how to use the list correctly, how to word a sales pitch, short and a secondary pitch, for any product, not just an information product that I know nothing about. And then I hoped to branch out into these other areas. By the time I learn the initial steps, all of these will be obselete anyway.
You stated that you provided the site to teach me how to market it. Does that not start with a list? Not one person I personally know cares a darn about how to sell on e-Bay and I am supposed to already have a list to market that very information to? Do you see the problem? You repeatedly state I am to use my list. I have no list. That is the missing link in all this marketing junk that is given away free and sold to newbies. I am not playing, I need an income from MY product. I have sold $400.00 in the last eight months simply by people accidently running into my site. Think what I could do if I could learn how to market it. That is what your “course” said I would learn.
Reply From Richard: Anna, have you read through the free course that you signed up for? If you had, you would have found that there is information on all the main aspects of getting an online business up and running … including building a list.
“I need specifics on how to build a list, not buy one, for start up marketing”. This is covered in the free ebook.
“Where is the start? Before we branch out to some of these multi-level pyramid schemes?” Again, this is covered in the free course.
If you have read through the free information on this blog, you will see there are specific sections dealing with list building, squeeze pages etc … and even free templates you can use to start building your list.
“You left me with a totally unknown product.” If you took advantage of the free website I was giving away to all members, the sales page was demonstrated to you on video before you signed up to use it. And again, that free website that I setup for members to use was exactly that … free. You were under no obligation to use it, and I did not personally charge you to use that website.
I know there is a lot of information out there on the web, but I would suggest going through the information you have in the free course that you signed up for, as well as some of the posts on this blog and I do hope that they help you.

What I would like and I’m sure hundreds of thousand of other new IM’s would like and happily pay for is a simple A to Z system that spells out step by step how to find a niche, grab a domain and build a small website, get said website indexed in so many steps quickly with google, build links step by step and quickly rank said site for targeted search phrases step by step. Now the Gurus constantly flog products that cover some of these steps but never the entire package simply written step by step.
On video and PDF, not everyone likes learning from just video.

Hi Richard. Using some of your techiques I have got the above site on to position 4, page 1 of google out of 16.5 million sites. So can you tell me what is my problem? I have got a grand total of ONE opt-in for a subscription on aweber. And that was me testing to see if it works OK. It does. So my question to you is … why do I not get any success with my sites. I have not had any success promoting clickbank products on squeeze pages either. Also I have tried Admobs, Adsense, ppc, with no success.
It seems to me that evrything which is promoted to me as the way gurus make huge and fast money, only works for them because people like me beleive the hype and buy the , pardon the language, *%$£ stuff which simply does not work.

I have been doing IM for the past 3 years. For the most part, I struggled because there were several basic factors I wasn’t aware of and consider. I did lots of teleconferences, webinars, watched videos, read e-books and reports. Yes, I learned alot, but it didn’t make me money. When I did attempt to get a business off the ground, it was usually a business-in-a-box. No help or support, which was disheartenuing.
Perhaps this may help others starting out, not to have to go through a very long and costly learning curve. In my experience many so-called gurus may leave out some very important steps when they sell you a program. Not deliberately, but they are usually so far advanced that they forget that a newbie doesn’t know what they know.
Some of the things you should do is to:
1.) define your target audience.
2.) Make a list of other businesses sharing your target audience.
3.) Just having lots of traffic does not necessarily mean you’ll make sales. You want highly qualified traffic that converts.
4.) You have to have a sales and marketing strategy. This in itself can make or break your business. Websites have to follow the marketing equation. Good idea to have an expert evaluate your site and suggest improvements.
5.) Most important lesson for me was to learn to focus. I found myself buying the next best thing that was going to work for me and all it accomplished was place me in debt. I finally cancelled of most of my acquisitions that had recurring monthly charges and ended up keeping just two programs that I knew would succeed if I put in the necessary time and effort. I was right. So my advice to anyone starting out is to focus, focus, focus… on one thing at time and when it’s working for you and making you some money, then, and only then, start another stream of income. Same rules apply.Focus on it and work it.
I wish someone had taken me aside then and told me what I’ve just told you when I was starting out. I could have spared myself a great deal of overwhelm, stress, frustration, and spending money I couldn’t afford.

I have read so much about traffic my head is going to explode.
We can get a site to rank for pretty high in a lot of places But that is nothing with out traffic. We get some but not even close to enough.
The Guild “link above” we have been stashing our goodies on for a couple years and use it as an index driver for some of our sales sites.
But actual traffic haven’t found it yet. Our animals need homes for the Holidays.

For the past 3 years that I have been online, the biggest problem I have been experiencing and I am sure many have too is the advertising and marketing of honest and reputable companies, programs and products.
Short of having a large list which takes years to build or having knowledge about SEO or knowing how to write an attractive article/blog, the premise of generating responsive targeted traffic has been challenging to say the least.
It is one thing to attract traffic to your site or product i.e. using Text Ad Exchanges, TE’s, Solo Ads (best response), email marketing, Google Adwords (can be expensive if you do not know what you are doing) but if there is very little conversion then there must be another way.
Like you, I have a young family and limited amount of free time to dedicate to learning so if you have a fast track way, I would be truly grateful to hear and read about it.

1. How to get prospect from sales page (aka. squeeze page, sales letter) through proper link to buy page (pay pal etc) to link that takes them to download the product they have bought?
2. If you upload to a site like tradebit is it the whole file with all pages (or just sales page)including the product, or is the product on my computer for them to come and get? If they come and get how do I set up links? Or either way how to links?
3. I signed up for Desktop Lightening because, in part, I only have ten people in my personal list and this will broadcast to 2100 peoples desktops. I don’t see or find a way to ‘personalize’ messages. So what is suggested as a salutation? I see some of the things used by some of the offers that come to me and am appaled. Hello there, Hey friends,? How do you approach this one?
4. Twitter posts can only be a limited number of words. I don’t understand how this helps or how you get people to follow you on twitter. I don’t have people I can ask. Facebook seems a little different, more open, but even then there must be a tip or trick. What is Strings?
5. I did as suggested and used the suggested email sample and did a mailing for $12.50 for 200,000 impressions through, I think MBL. It went out but I don’t know how to track the results.
I guess I need techie stuff as the basics before I can get to the marketing. I have three web sites and don’t know how to use them. Do you need a different site for each product? I don’t understand how to move to free download and where product is ‘put’ to deliver then to move to sale and where download is ‘put’.

As I am on dial up because there is no broadband in this are I find it next to impossible to get all the information i need to get any website up and running because every thing now adays is on video and it can seriously take upto 4 hours to load a 7 minute video

I have a hang-up about integrity since so much of the material out there (particularly internet business advice) is garbage. I would like to get into affiliate marketing (clickbank, amazon etc) on a broad scale with different topics. Trouble is I can’t afford to buy every product I want to promote, initially anyway to check it out and I don’t want to promote rubbish to a list I would like to build. That’s why the so called gurus are pushing huge bonuses, because many have soiled the playing field to make easy money and now they are losing peoples’ trust. I have purchased a few things on Clickbank which have not matched the marketing hype. I feel that if affiliate marketing is to survive we need to be selective and honest for our customers. But how do we chose a genuine product.

I started reading your training course; I found it very organised and valuable.
However, I do have quiet few questions.
First Question:
I would like to know once I find all the keywords I need to use, do I have to put them all in my keyword tags then use only one or two keyword to optimize my website for the search engine
Or choose and focus only on one or two keywords throughout the website, meaning from the domain name to the title to the meta-tags to headers, etc…
Then if I wanted to use all the other keywords do I need to build other webpage for them.
Especially for Google adwords campaign.
Second question:
I do have 5 domain names, all with different topics, and I am registered with hostgator business package. I can have an unlimited domain names as addon domains.
However I found out that when I used one website with a “marketing” topic keywords (www.neomarketing.org) then I build another website blog about “computer hardware” (www.arezkilounes.com), with computer hardware keywords.
I then went to check my website keywords using Google keyword tool.
The Google keyword tool came up with the marketing keywords related to the first website (neomarketing.org) which is nothing to do with the computer hardware wordpress direct blog.
When asked, the hostgator technical support told me that the business plan I am in has got only one cpanel or one IP address and is not search engine friendly.
Then they suggested using the hostgator new webhosting servers on http://www.seohosting.com
Now the question is: is there a way to host all my websites with different topics on my actual hostgator business plan or do I have to switch to http://www.seohosting.com which is more seo friendly.

My book is titled, Tame Your Stress. Which domain should I use to start my blog? Is it important that your domain name have your key words in it? One domain has the word “stress.” The other has “Stress Management.” I also have the domain name:
TheLifeCoach.com I do not have any websites up yet. Should I put all of my content on TheLifeCoach.com and build an “authority site” regarding stress management. Would this be possible even though the domain name does not have the keyword “stress” in it? By the way, I just purchased unlimitted hosting with hostgator.

Another problem is in not knowing how to setup business structure.I have websites, blog. I promote them and nothing is working.Why? You ask what we want to know and coach us to the best of your ability. Well it is quite obvious that everyone online wants to be doing what you are doing and every other semi and/or highly successful money making marketer that has armies of affilites doing all there work along with there own products and all the knowledge of every in and out aspect of online marketing. But lets look at that for a moment if everyone online was to do that then what would any successful markerter have left to sell. If we were all fantastic knowledgeble marketers it would be in a nutshell silly to think we would purchase from each other as no highly regarded marketer purchases from another doing the same. So maybe coaching as you wish to sell to your subscribers is a good idea as we need the experience but still we all want what you and as i have mentioned all big known names online have, but i just cannot stress enough that people like myself and hundreds of thousands probably in just the year of 2009 wanting to do it and do it well but if we all did then online marketing as we know it would be no longer the rush for the gold as we are all wanting it could possibly just fade away as every person would have all the same knowledge all the same products and as i mentioned a seller does not buy they sell and sell some more but i think there would be alot od advertisers that would retire with a large smile. However I have heard that there have been days over the years where up to an astonishing 10,000 people a day try a home business, so, yes there is always a new market to sell to and teach and make money off. My lengthy comment here is simple i want what you and any other successful or at least income happy working from there p,j’s so to speak have. That is what i want to learn from your new video series. Over the last two years I have learnt to build websites, use Photoshop, use Aweber, have created ebooks with covers etc etc…

I have written about 12 Ezine articles and have just created a Youtube video promoting this website.

Hello Richard, it’s only me again. I’ve just come out of hospital again and while I was in hospital I was having a few thoughts about my websites etc.
As we all know having videos on your website is the deed of the day so to speak.
When you have a free moment could you show us how to actually make a video, for eaxample pulling in screen shopts or images of different products. Sort of how to make a promo video of say an ebook sale etc.
I have camtasia v3 and have spent a little time on it, but I really don’t know how to record screen shots and the like to form content for a video.

All of my domains have been offline since February. I got a little bit scared about the legal stuff and compliance rules. You know after a person or business has been online for 5 years or more, the FTC may show up on my door step wanting to investigate me and my businesses.

Sounds like you have enough content for a year with all the questions already asked! My problem is similar to most - too much information has led to confusion and inaction. I think the basic model makes the most sense. Drill down into a niche, tap into those keywords people are using in that niche, then put up a squeeze page, sales page, back-end. But then you read so many comments that others have done this (or similar) but are still not seeing sales. So how do you REALLY monetize this process? I’m not talking about get-rich-quick! Just $100 day would be fantastic!

I watched your video on creating squeeze pages with NVU, but what I wanted to do was use a video in the page but NVU didn’t seem to let me and after a few hours I was lost. Also I could use some help on word press, the help desk and forums are for people that clearly understand the language.

How does a person decide on what market/niche to run with, if a person is not an authority on any specific field.
I think this is a subject that should be given a lot more attention to by such people like you. (And you are good)

hi richard!!! im a newbie and i have set up 3 blogs from another marketer that i had joined. i learned quite a bit,but felt i was being mislead and pulled to different directions. Basically i was being told one thing one day and another thing another day. i was curious as to why my 3 blogs have not generated any $$$$. And maybe your expertise and knowledge can help me. I have stayed put so far i guess you can say im in limbo mode i have been short on cash and my google campaigns arent running. So with that being the problem i havent really been building my blogs because i want to do things right from the get go. I appreciate if you can give me some advice or some kind of overview since i know a little about the subject

I have a goal of achieving £1,5K a month income by end of this year. I want help with scheduling what to focus on to get as close as possible to my goal, plus how to outsource as time is scarce. I own a couple of blogs and affiliate product websites, and am in a process of building infoproduct websites. I need to get ahead with listbuilding and creating a membership site, but not quite sure if this is achievable.

I have spent the last year testing everything I learned on about Affiliate and Internet marketing. I have purchase many courses, joined several groups including WA, purchased several PDF’s and read all the PDF’s I could find in WA and the internet related to IM marketing. I have written many articles for ezine and others which have been read by over 4000 readers with over 400 ctr’s, and created several squidoo lens, several Usfreeads but not one sale. I can not get enough Traffic to generate sales and I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Can you help steer me in the right direction?
