How To Write An eBook - Make Money Online Writing And Selling eBooks

One of the most profitable ways to make money online is to sell your own product.

This doesn’t have to be a daunting task as one of the easiest ways to create a product is to write and sell and ebook. However, there are a few things that you should remember if you want yours to be a great seller.

Here are just a few tips on how to write an ebook that will sell!

Your ability to write…

Obviously, if you want to write an ebook, you first need to be able to write. You don’t have to be at Stephen King’s level, but you do need to be able to communicate your ideas through words. If you are not comfortable doing this, then it may be best to hire someone to do the writing for you.

It doesn’t matter how hard you work … if you can’t write, then your ebook won’t sell.

Your style of writing…

Most readers prefer a conversational tone of writing, so when you write your ebook, make sure to make it read like you are actually talking to the reader. You should avoid complex terms and words that may confuse the reader.

Also be sure to make good use of “white space”, meaning that your paragraphs should be short with plenty of blank lines in between.

This breaks up the text and makes it easier for people to read more comfortably.

The information that you include…

Obviously the content of your ebook has to be worth reading, and it should engage the reader right from the start.

If you don’t do this, many readers will simply get bored with it. Remember, an eBook can easily be deleted so it’s not like a regular book that can sit on a shelf and maybe get picked up in the future.

Fortunately, one of the easiest ways to get the reader excited at the beginning of the book is to let them know about all the great things that are covered in the book.

Give them a brief summary of the exciting things they are going to learn and this will certainly hold their attention more.

Editing your eBook…

Lastly, you want to make sure that you edit the book. If you’re writing in Word or some other similar software, this will make you aware of any spelling or grammatical mistakes you may have.

Including major spelling mistakes will detract from the reader’s perception of you as an expert - so a quick check in Word is well worth the few seconds it takes.

Those are just some of the main points to consider on how to write an ebook. There’s a lot of junk on the internet today, but just by following the rules above, and writing for your audience, you can instantly put yourself above the majority out there and come out with a great ebook.

Good Advice. You might also suggest that the principles of a good speech also apply to an ebook: Tell ‘em what you going to tell ‘em
    Tell ‘em
Tell ‘em what you’ve told ‘em

  11. Darell Says:

You offer some good starting points but leave an awful lot unsaid. I would have liked to see a bulleted list of the format you like. Then a description of the “do’s and don’ts related to each. I have read about hundreds of others methods and even use many of them.

    Hey Richard

Just wanted to add that, if you write a ebook, find a good mix between free links to helpful resources, and payed (or affiliate) links.

This of course if you are interested to offer a free ebook.

I have experiances that you get a good conversion if you mix those.

And before you release it to the public, offer the book to a few friends and ask theim for a review/proofread.

The point you make are very valid. Everyone has an e-book in them. They just have to make sure they have someone to edit it for them. I was listening to book club members and the one thing that turns off an avid reader is typos and other errors. Keep up the great content publishing.

  14. David Robertson Says:

    Hi Richard
After having written several successful ebooks I do agree with you. Editing for content and spelling is very important. I would also suggest choosing a font that is easily readable. If you create a niche topic ebook with good information and a good sales page you are almost guaranteed significant income for years. The time spent researching and developing your ebook is well invested to create your own product.

  15. HP van Duuren Says:

Yes, I do have some experience with writing an eBook and for what the editing part is concerned I have other people check it for possible spelling errors. Two see more than one, although I do believe that people buying my eBook will tell me soon enough! :)

And that’s O.K. by me, because I really like to receive as much ‘Feedback’ from my readers as I possibly can get. That’s also why I have Blogspots that people can leave their comments. Their feedback might also give me new ideas for new eBooks to write.

    ‘Talking about ‘Feedback’,
have you already bought my eBook?’

You can get a FREE Preview if you go to my ‘Webshop’.

You can find my eBook via: http://hpshappy.blogspot.com

    All the Best,

P.S. I am looking forward to your feedback.
