GREAT advice, Richard: I’m guilty myself when I find my inbox full of scanning names and titles of emails and deleting without opening. A compelling title is EVERYTHING.

Hi Richard,

Great post! Short and simple but very essential principle in email marketing. Might I add that the title (and content itself) of an email should also be spam-filter friendly to avoid being filtered out.

Good post! I really agree with you that your subject of the email is of paramount importance. And on the same wavelength and if you advertise with traffic exchanges, a catchy “splash page” is a must.

It doesn’t matter if it is your emails, blog entries or articles that you write, if you don’t have a great headline that puts a hook into your reader, your writing will quickly find it’s way to the recycle bin. We all suffer from information overload and if a headline doesn’t catch my eye, it is very unlikely that I will read it.
